My opinion on Whip It

Being trapped in a small town and the under the pressure of her mother, Bliss Cavendar (Ellen Page) try’s to seek out refuge. That’s when she found out about the TXRD (Texas Roller Derby). So with nothing but gain, she tries out and makes it to the Hurl Scouts as the speed freak Babe Ruthless. The only obstacle in front of bliss is her normal life back at her home town of Bodeen.

This is the directorial debut of long time actress Drew Barrymore, and a debut that goes down well. There are few problems that bugged me mainly its just nit picking. I was wondering if Jimmy Fallon’s (“Hot Tub” John) character being unfunny; was this coincidence or on purpose? Another item is that there was little to no identity for the rest of the cast like Eve or Zoe Bell.

What I do like about the film is that you do see a good chemistry with the team. The film does give a sense of making a second family for Bliss. Also I am no expert in roller derby (although I do want to attend a bout) but it does seem to harness the brurality of the sport.

"&*&^ you Banner" -or- Lets Start from the End

Freshman year, I was 14-15. I went to a small crappy charter school. I was made fun of, it involves the word “cracker”(not the racial term the, the actual snack). Cause of that, I hated school and ditched most of the second semester. But enough with the sad crap lets, get to the point. During the first semester (I think during the winter break) I got into comics, and the one that kicked it off started with a bang. Well…, more of a rip.

Wolverine Vs. Hulk #1. Written by Daemon Lindelof, sketched by Leinil Francis Yu.

Now the thing about WvH is that it was notorious for being late. How Late you ask? Two months after the first issue the second one came out (which was how it suppose to be). After the second, it took three years. My Senior year. Well hell, nice of you to show up again! No really, it is its still pretty good. I have to thank this book because it got me to be a total dork. at my first comic-con the thing i wanted done was get my first issue signed at the Artists Alley.

The final issue marks as something important. I am no longer going to buy single issues. Nothing personal, just expensive. I didn't quit comics, I'm just moving up to trades. With that, i I leave you with this...
